Helen asks…
why don people get solar panels as an alternative for energy?
ok i had this idea of getting 5 big sloar panels put them over the roof of my room and put one of those multiple outlets onto it so i can connect more electical devices. this way the electricity bill wont be as high and it would be eco friendly. would that be eligal? and is it a good idea?

Michael answers:
Dawei is right, it’s insanely expensive. Also, I guess it depends on where you live. You’ll see a lot of those in warmer and sunnier climates. In Spain, if you go to Andalusia, you’ll see lots of them, huge fields and valleys filled with those, as far as the eye can see. It’s pretty amazing. Up north, where they get more rain and wind, you’ll see more windmills, in the mountains and grouped together by hundreds. It’s a pretty amazing sight, in the midst of all those vineyards and olive trees.

Mark asks…
If you’re living in a van, would it be possible to install a solar panel to the roof of the van?

Michael answers:
Absolutely, and with a 12 volt battery storage system and an inverter you could use it at night and power 115 volt items like a laptop or charge a cell phone.

Linda asks…

Sandy
for domestic hot water fitted to the roof of my house .

Michael answers:
Just the normal planning application form from your local council.
Of course all laws apply to Hungerford the same as evrywhere else in the United Kingdom.
If you don’t believe me, run up and down the High Street with a gun – doubt you would get much further than Stan James the bookie if you set off from the river bridge !!!
